The present selection of  project countries in the French speaking Sahel region is the result of the historic choices determined through the knowledge, experience and the network of  Wietske Jongbloed, member of the board and project coordinator.
If required, KoZon may also add other countries; the Sudan and Senegal are new possibilities.

Considering the civil situation two kinds of project are distinguished:

Regular projects. These are in countries with a more or less stable political and social situation. These are the projects in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger.

Emergency Aid. These are projects in or near conflict areas, i.e. the refugee camps in Chad along the border with the Sudan (Dar Fur). With regard to these project the Board of KoZon expects to be involved, through the local NGO TchadSolair, for many more years.

The policy for KoZon in the forthcoming years is set out following three main lines.

1. Continuation of the emergency aid in the refugee camps in Chad.
2. Improving the management of the projects in joint control with local NGOs, for example      the amalgamation of the little projects in Mali into one.
3. Support to third parties (implementing agents), proposing programmes and/or projects for which aid and means for the implementation are required. The criterion for support is always that the projects aim at the propagation of integrated solar cooking, both in the rural and urban areas.
